Position:                              City Clerk

Position Department:    City Clerk @ City Hall

Job Description:               The City of Fredericksburg, Iowa population of 987 is accepting applications for a full-time City Clerk. At will position, appointed by the City Council and reports to the Mayor and City Council.  The City Clerk is directly responsible to the mayor for the administration of municipal affairs.  Under administrative direction monitors, directs and evaluates the financial operation of the city according to duties set forth in state law.

Schedule:                            Generally, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday.  The City Clerk is required to attend all City Council Meetings and may need to attend committee and budget meetings, as requested.  The City Clerk may be requested to work additional hours or to change hours with minimal notice because of operational needs. 

Responsibilities:              Meeting preparations, taking minutes & attending meetings for city council and other meetings as requested / required, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, building permits and record keeping.  Candidates must be detail oriented, self-motivated and be proficient with Microsoft office & Google applications.

Rate of Pay:                        Dependent on Qualifications.

Job Requirements:        

  • Education / Training:      High School Diploma or equivalent and accreditation from a business or technical college or university with emphasis in public administration, accounting, political science, or business management of a closely related field; and
  • Work Experience:          Five (5) years work in related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Required licenses, registrations and certifications:         Possession of a valid State of Iowa Driver’s license.  Certification of completion of Clerk School or the ability to obtain.
  • Ability to travel to meetings as required
  • Ability to work with the public and to be proficient in getting information requested in a timely fashion.

Garbage Totes

          **All Garbage MUST be in the brown garbage tote. (NO EXTRA BAGS SETTING ALONG SIDE or on TOP on your tote)

          **Garbage Totes need to be set out by 7 a.m. on your garbage day.

          **DO NOT SET your TOTE in the street. 

         **The lid on the garbage tote MUST be CLOSED.

Large Items -  To dispose of large items such as chairs, couches, tables, etc, you can still buy a yellow sticker to put on the item for pickup.  Each sticker cost $2.00 each.  (Some items will take more than one sticker) - we do not pickup appliances / electronics / TV's / Tires
