The deadline to file papers for City Council and Mayor has passed and a lot of people have asked me what my plans are. In short, it is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I am not seeking re-election. I know in the future when the time is right I will return but now is not that time.

I have enjoyed my time as Mayor of Fredericksburg, and I am proud of the changes and progress we have made in the last four years. I have some personal and professional priorities that I must attend to that have swayed me to make this decision. I love serving this community, and that will not stop. I will continue to volunteer and serve my civic duty on other boards and councils, and donate my time when I can.

We have a wonderful community with great people and great employees and I know we will continue to make improvements and thrive in the future. I am aware of the list of candidates for both Mayor and Council and I am excited to see what the future has in store for us as a community! This decision has been on my mind for some time and I knew if I could sway someone I knew and trusted to make sound decisions as a Mayor, I would step down. I am happy to say, I believe I found that person. Please support Jimmy Mitchell in the upcoming election for Mayor. He has a great business sense and has served the council well for the past few years. I believe we share a common goal and vision for this community and we will continue to great things happen for Fredericksburg.

Again, thanks for all the support over the past four years, it has been my pleasure serving the community and the fine citizens of Fredericksburg.

Mayor Shain Kroenecke
