I have been putting off summarizing the last four years serving as mayor up until the very end. I have had such a good time and enjoyed most of it. It was not an easy decision to decide not to seek re-election, but it was something I had to do. I will always be an unwavering supporter of our community as it done so much for me personally growing up here and raising my own family here. I would not have wanted it any other way.
In the last 4 years I feel we have really made some vast improvements in the community. We have updated equipment, policies, infrastructure and more. We have been a voice of reason in the county while debating many important topics. I feel with the new leadership coming in we are going to continue building upon this ......

The deadline to file papers for City Council and Mayor has passed and a lot of people have asked me what my plans are. In short, it is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I am not seeking re-election. I know in the future when the time is right I will return but now is not that time.

I have enjoyed my time as Mayor of Fredericksburg, and I am proud of the changes and progress we have made in the last four years. I have some personal and professional priorities that I must attend to that have swayed me to make this decision. I love serving this community, and that will not stop. I will continue to volunteer and serve my civic duty on other boards and councils, and donate my time when I can.

We have a wonderful community with ...

What’s new Fredericksburg? Lots of exciting things going on. We have new owners at the hardware store, stop in at Westy’s and check it out. It sounds like they have tons of great ideas for the store.
Also, I know it’s been awhile but stop out at Ricks tire and say to the new owners as well. We are so fortunate to have so many great companies in our community!
We have the Fireman’s Block party coming up soon August 24th, this is an all-day event for the whole family! Always a great time. Great food and great music is slated for the day!
Also check out Plum Creek Golf Course Couples Fun Nights Aug. 9th and the 23rd and check out the tournament schedule as well. It is fun for golfers of every level. The course ...

Update on the Ambulance council.
At Tonights meeting there was a contract presented to the council from the negotiating commitee. Our goal was to have something to turn over to the board of supervisors for approval and then take back to our councils. Unfortunately it did not pass out of our board tonight.
What does this mean? It means we have some work to do to find a solution to the EMS issue in this county. This is not a unique issue to us but it is an issue we have to deal with now. I reccomended tonight and will continue to reccomend that we make EMS an essential service in our county and we allow taxation for it. If we do not do this now or at least start the process now then when?
It is a real possibility that on July ......

It looks like old man winter is about to arrive! Be careful out there this weekend! Remember to keep your vehicles off of the street if possible to avoid snow tickets.
The most common time for our crews to be out is after 2am when the snow is 2" or more. They usually go out and try to have everything cleared by morning. This weekend looks they may be out several times with the wind and the snow forecast so please be prepared. Do you best to keep those sidewalks clean!

Budget season is here so the council and all of the departments are busy preparing budgets and planning for the next years expense and all that goes with it. It takes a lot of careful planning and effort to keep everything running and make improvements at the ...

From the Mayor of Fredericksburg Iowa

It looks like it's finally here!! Harvest time that is. Even though I live in town like many of us do, please be aware of the farmers trying to get their crops out. Be cautious on the road, give them extra time and space. They are trying to make their living and we know it's been a tough a year for all of them.
Also be aware that just because you may live in town and maybe have never driven a tractor, or had your livelihood depend on this years yield, everything they are doing is affecting us in so many ways. Our community thrives on agriculture! Farmers buy gas, diesel, food, pay the bulk of the taxes and keep our small towns thriving. We have the Farmers Winn Co-op employing so many ......

Another wet week on tap for us here, it's about enough already! Remember to make sure those sump pumps are pumping the surface away from your house but not into the sanitary sewer, this causes major issues for your neighbors and our system, not to mention it's not legal!

Fall is in full swing and people are getting yards picked up and leaves raked, please remember you cannot blow your leaves and grass into the streets, it will plug our storm sewers and thus rain fall will not be able to get away!

Feel free to haul your yard waste to our yard waste site near the sewer plant but remember it is only for yard waste. Someone has been dumping other trash and that will lead to it being locked and controlled to limited hours of ...
